By-election Enlightenment

Mr Mozart and the Mozarty Party's South Australian Campaigning Team are currently meeting to discuss a proposed strategy for...

...the two forthcoming by-elections.  The seat of Port Adelaide and the seat of Ramsay are currently being contested.  The ballots for both are to be held on Saturday 11 February 2012.

Nominations closed yesterday for Port Adelaide candidates, but nominations for Ramsay will close on Mr Mozart's 256th birthday on 27 January.  Are you aware of the Mozarty Party's previous campaigning, dear reader?

News from Mozarty Party Headquarters

If you would like to be the Mozarty Party's candidate for the seat of Ramsay, please be advised that we are currently seeking a heavily pregnant material lady for the position, bearing in mind that the seat in question is very safe for Labor.  We therefore prefer to call the seat Birthing Stool rather than Ramsay.

We had only one nominee for the seat of Port Adelaide, an ethereal personage by the name of James Bell.  Unfortunately, he already appears to be too much like a typically unenlightened politician, rather than a suitable spokesperson for the Mozarty Party.

Mr Bell's attention is frequently focused on what he regards as other people's faults rather than their better qualities.  This perhaps makes him an excellent, high-profile candidate in terms of possible media interest, but not necessarily for leading us towards the establishment of a better society.

Here are just a few references to Mr Bell's previous activities and observations:

If you consider yourself to be a good observer of society, a person with an interest in future generations, and someone devoted to improving the quality of life of all Adelaideans, with or without their approval, do consider nominating yourself for the seat of Birthing Stool.  Previous experiences of sea sickness or morning sickness could perhaps be an advantage.
