Reviews, Revenues and Rendezvous

Governments tend to be an expensive purchase for most societies.  We buy governments through various taxes, charges, fees, rates, levies and duties.  It seems, at times, that governments are very much like banks, and vice versa.

As I live in a little villa in the western suburbs of Adelaide, I am obliged to...

...provide a range of revenues towards all three levels of government in Australia:

National:  Australian Government - The Treasury

State:  South Australia - RevenueSA

Local: Council rates

As you can imagine, this can be very annoying at times, especially as I am also required to pay supply charges and usage costs for various utilities. Living a comfortable and healthy existence can come at quite a price, especially as I am a personage who also likes to eat.

An Absolute State

Avoiding starvation is paramount, of course, which is why the World Economic Forum in Davos has less meaning and purpose at present than the We Eat Food protests in North Africa.  I am sure that enlightened persons who have something delicious for dinner and a value-for-money government do not need to protest in public at all, or to attend non-ethereal social networking events in remote locations.

You may believe that eating food is almost as important as knowing when a review is of worth, or a rendezvous is worthwhile.  Good reviews require mutual understanding, in the same way as good government.  Do you feel better when you know that reviewers and policy makers have an awareness of - and respect for - your needs, especially when they communicate their ideas and decisions?  Perhaps you have some thoughts on this topic and would like to share them.

A suitable place for a rendezvous at a reasonable cost may be the virtual parlour, so do join me there for tea and conversation when you have a few moments to spare.
