The Employment Revolution

After we have all finished our tea this morning, the more enlightened of us will be off to experience the launch of the Mozarty Party's Very Important Jobs Policy. To give you a tantalizing preview of what to expect, just imagine a world where...

...all boring jobs will be banned from receiving government subsidies.

Say "no" to boring jobs

If you have a boring job (an indication of which is that you are reading this in your work time to prevent your brain from undergoing a rapid process of atrophication), and your boring job is partly or wholly funded by tax payers in one form or another, then a vote for the Mozarty Party will put an end to all your woes.

Imagine the sort of job you would like to do instead.  When we are in charge of your national finances and tax revenues, we will only provide you with a salary for a job you find so interesting that you will not want to spend time doing anything else, even on weekends and public holidays.

How to prepare for your perfect job

Firstly, you will be required to resign from your current position.  Someone else who does not find what you do at all boring will then be given your old job.

Secondly, you will be required to complete the Creative Employment Course at the International Training Centre for the Harmonious Interplay of Beauty, Understanding and Magnificence.

Thirdly, you will be required to provide a thorough analysis of your planned career, and how it will be of some benefit to people 250 years from now.

In the meantime...

You may wish to think about the people whose jobs have benefited you over the last 250 years.  Some of the most useful activities may have been ones that have not received any government subsidies, or any salaries from any sources.  Some may have been the work of volunteers and other amateurs.  Others may have been based on the vagaries of commissions.

If you are not yet sure about your perfect idea of employment, here are a few links that I hope may inspire and enlighten you:

The Royal Academy

The Royal Institution of Great Britain

The Royal Collection

Well, we have now finished our tea here.  The Mozarty Party's Very Important Jobs Policy launch will be held in five minutes time at the most boring workplace in Adelaide.  Perhaps it is yours...
