...television interviews. You will probably not be able to reach me by telephone or by online chat. You are unlikely ever to hear me on the radio.
I do not have an agent, a stylist, a media adviser, a publicist or even a personal assistant to pick up my dry cleaning or write my shopping lists for me.
If someone wishes to take my photograph, I am more likely to close my eyes and stand in an awkwardly irregular pose than put my hands on my hips, stick out my chest and grin from ear to ear (which probably is an awkward, irregular pose, anyway).
However, if a distinguished portrait painter wishes to try to capture my character, then that is a different matter. I may enjoy seeing myself framed in the Galleria Borghese.
A sense of duty
As you may already know, I am more of a blog pamphleteer and ethereal emailer than an online social networking sort of personage. Even offline social networking is not really my thing, especially when encountering people who have a less than pleasant emotional disposition or turn of phrase.
As a Chief Executive Officer, it is important for me to understand the priorities within my workplace. My duty is to perform for the benefit of the International Training Centre for the Harmonious Interplay of Beauty, Understanding and Magnificence, and especially its students. If you are a student of the Centre, how has my work been of benefit to you?
A sense of proportion
Thank you if I once connected with you through the mysterious facebook machine at Lady Facebookian's soirees. You have helped me to work out its benefits and shortcomings in an exceedingly interesting and amusing manner.
For anyone who enjoys the music of Mozart, especially his operas, that makes all the difference to our possible future interactions. You may wish to experience an ongoing celebration of his life and work through my blog pamphlet about him: http://mozarty.blogspot.com
If you have an intellectual appreciation of historically important women, you can read my blog pamphlet about a few of them here: http://someimportance.blogspot.com
If you are in Adelaide, Australia, or you have visited Adelaide, or you wish to visit Adelaide, or you have lived in Adelaide or even if you would like to live in Adelaide, I have a blog pamphlet especially for you and your opinions: http://adelaideadagia.blogspot.com
Pleasant communication
Some of my activities include improving planet earth, tackling tomorrow's troubles today, encouraging appreciation of the highest capabilities of the human mind, and creating world peace. These are activities that politicians and other performing artists often like to think they are pursuing but perhaps mostly do so for their own publicity (and financial) purposes.
Beautiful language is important to me. I prefer to communicate in standard English, devoid of expletives and other crudities. Interpersonal courtesy is absolutely paramount, which is something I hope politicians and other performing artists will bear in mind if they disagree with my views.
Some performing artists are delightful to know, especially those who are supportive of my literary activities. Whoever you are and wherever you may be, even if you are just an ordinary sort of a person without any distinctive talents, you may wish to become more acquainted with me through twitter: http://twitter.com/twaklin
Healthy cultural pursuits
My little facebook coterie is mainly for enlightened, inspiring, open-minded, mature people who have a wide range of uplifting, creative interests, healthy cultural pursuits, and a tastefully witty sense of humour. However, I am concerned that facebook itself is not a healthy cultural pursuit. You may wish to peruse this short video:
Facebook - Running out of friends - ABC News - Australia
If you already have quite a lot of facebook acquaintances, I should point out that I have a much more selective approach to online interactions, as previous posts in this blog pamphlet may indicate.
You are welcome to contact me by email, to learn more about what I do: twakin (AT) gmail.com - An experienced and aware online person never puts undisguised email addresses online, at least intentionally.
Time for tea
Well, the offline world beckons now, especially the inner world of my mind. It often appears to me that the inner world is more real than the outer world for much of the time, especially when the media tries to interpret the latter. More about that next time...
